Posted on Monday, February 22nd, 2010 at 10:16 pmDifferent Sleigh Style Bed Types And Styles
Most people do not know what a sleigh bed is. This type of bed is very attractive and highly decorative. The headboard and foot board of these beds look like the front and back of a sleigh. They are usually slightly curved towards the outside on the top and bottom. This is why they are called a sleigh.
It can be a wonderful part of almost any bedroom set. They can be plain or highly carved and ornate. There are several styles of sleigh beds and the amount of carving you choose depends on your personality and the style all ready existing in your bedroom. A sleigh style bed generally comes in quite a few different shapes sizes and styles as well as different colors.
Some popular colors are dark, red, black, white, and wood. Most sleigh style beds are made from wood. The hardwood that they use is ordinarily oak or pine. Pine is a lighter less durable wood than oak but is still very beautiful. They also have ones that are prepainted. These come in all colors and can easily be touched up or changed.
Stores occasionally sell these types of beds unfinished and unpainted. This is a great project for the kids to do when they are setting up their bedroom. You can allow them to paint or stencil what they want on it. Getting the kids involved is a wonderful way to bring a family together.
There are several sizes of these beds. There is a queen sleigh bed, a king sleigh style, full sleigh style, and twin sleigh style beds. The most popular type is the queen. Just because it is a special type of bed frame does not mean that a regular queen mattress and box spring will not fit. When you are buying one ask and make sure what size mattress you should buy for your type of bed.
When you are looking at the different types of sleigh style beds be sure to take into account style. You will also want to look at quality. Some wooden beds are made from press board which although inexpensive is not nearly as durable as the other materials. If you want one that is going to stand up to almost anything make sure that you purchase one that is solid.
Regardless of the type of sleigh style bed you buy make sure it is the right one for you. There are a variety of different options so make sure you look around at different stores. Sleigh style beds add a certain style and flair to any bedroom.
