Defeat Ungodly Ghosts This Halloween: How to Sculpt a Pumpkin

The Celtics of old believed that during Halloween the veil between the spirit world and our world became especially thin. This meant Halloween was the perfect time to make contact with deceased loved ones.

How To Carve A Pumpkin

But, this idea also held a scarier ramification; that it would be possible for evil spirits to enter this world at the same time. The traditional protection for your home and your family comes from a carved pumpkin with a light in it.

However, if you don’t know how to carve a pumpkin you could be in trouble.

General pumpkin carving instructions

  • Carve desired features in the face(s) of pumpkins
  • Cut a circular hole in each pumpkin
  • and spread out newspaper
  • kitchen knife
  • Reach inside and manually remove seeds and mushy content

The connection between a home not guarded by a lit pumpkin and the dark world are clear, so it‘s imperative that you learn how to carve a pumpkin immediately. Start by gathering a kitchen knife, some newspapers, a candle, and one or more pumpkins.

Picking the pumpkin is a fairly important endeavor. Thanks to genetic bio-engineering, there are massive pumpkins, tiny pumpkins, and medium-sized pumpkins that you can choose from. Do you have a preference?

In many instances, pumpkin purchases are made for every member of the family. A rule of thumb is to buy tiny pumpkins when they are the protective symbol for a baby, and progressively larger ones for more mature members of the family. Naturally, Dad would get the biggest pumpkin of all.

Your newspapers next should be spread out on the living room floor and the tools you‘ve assembled for the project laid on them. The purpose of the newspaper is to protect the rug or floor from the pumpkin seeds and pulp you are yanking out of the pumpkin. Pumpkin juice can become a hidden enemy, so make sure you lay down plenty of newspaper to protect your carpet.

Finally, the actual carving begins by carving a circular hole where the gourd stem signifies the top of the pumpkin is located. With one hand, grab and remove all seeds and other material within the pumpkin. Next, carve out the pumpkin’s eyes, nose, and a mouth. Triangles for eyes and noses and mouths sporting square teeth are common designs for those who carve pumpkins. Finally, put the lit candle in the pumpkin before the evil spirits come, and now, thank heaven, you know how to carve a pumpkin!

Meat Carving Oddball Movie with Harvey Korman: Carving Magic DVD (1960s)

$4.99

Carving Magic, a strangely comedic video, explains how to correctly carve any type of meat using the right type of knife. But the entertainment value comes not from the instructional aspects, but from the highly regarded comedic actors (namely the great Harvey Korman!) who chide one another for not being able to carve well! The absurd dialogue and behavior continues, clearly being played for laugh…
