Carving Turkey

How have I done so far today?
I’m trying to lose about 15lbs and lower my body fat%. Currently I’m 5’5″ and 135lbs with 27% body fat.
I just want to get an idea of whether my diet is okay today so that I can better plan my future meals.
So far today it’s looked like this:
Breakfast:
1/2 cup of plain organic yogurt with banana, blackberries and a strawberry
Snack: small handful of cherries
Lunch: 1/2 cup of split pea soup and 1/2 carved turkey sandwich on rye with 1 slice pepper jack and tomatoes (no mayo or anything else)
For dinner I plan to have a green salad with 1/2 hass avocado and maybe a small piece of baked chicken/salmon.
I will be getting 1 hour of aerobic exercise tonight and I’ve also had about 1 liter of water so far today. I’m hoping this sort of routine (good fresh food, water, fruit and exercise) will help me to shed these unwanted lbs.
Any input? I appreciate your insight.
Thanks.
Hi there Rache,
Bravo on the menu choices! It looks like you really pay attention to the foods that you eat and that are good for you and that’s rule number 1 when it comes to a healthy body. I have to agree with the first responder that you’ll have to try to eat a bit more to keep your metabolism from slowing down, maintain that exercise regimen and to ward off binges. Instead of eating a 1/2 cup of the soup, have a full cup with 1/2 your sandwich and add a piece of fruit as a follow-up snack after a couple of hours (fruit is said to be best for you when eaten on an empty stomach).
As for your exercise, I’m not sure what kind of shape you’re in right now but you could also cut that hour down to 45 minutes and save the last 15 minutes for some weight/strength training. Anaerobic exercise is important in building strong muscles that will help the body to burn calories and fat at a higher rate.
Kudos to you. Also, I LOVE that you didn’t mention a time limit. Let your body work at it’s own pace.. just keep taking care of it the way you seem to be.
Best of luck to you!
