Prevail Against Hurtful Apparitions This Halloween: How to Carve a Pumpkin

The Celtics of old believed that during Halloween the veil between the spirit world and our world became especially thin. This meant Halloween was the perfect time to make contact with deceased loved ones.

How To Carve A Pumpkin

On the other side of the coin, this opened the possibility of evil spirits reaching out to humans at the same time. A carved pumpkin outside your door with a light in it is the traditional means to protect you and your family against those evil spirits.

However, if you don’t know how to carve a pumpkin you could be in trouble.

A straightforward approach to pumpkin carving includes the following

  • Cut a circular hole in each pumpkin
  • Buy the number of pumpkins you require
  • Carve desired features in the face(s) of pumpkins
  • and spread out newspaper
  • possibly one for each member of the family

Don‘t delay in learning how to carve pumpkins and, in so doing, protect your family from evil spirits. Start by gathering a kitchen knife, some newspapers, a candle, and one or more pumpkins.

Pumpkin selection is one part of the project not to be taken lightly. Advances in the science of botany now give us multiple sizes and shapes of pumpkins available to be purchased. Do you have a preference?

In many instances, pumpkin purchases are made for every member of the family. The pumpkin’s size should relate to the relative size of the family member the pumpkin is for: so, if you have a little tiny baby, you get a little tiny pumpkin. Out of respect, if nothing else, the largest pumpkin should represent Dad.

Distribute your tools on the newspapers you‘ve placed throughout the living room. The newspaper is essential because removing seeds from the pumpkin often is a messy affair. Pumpkin juice can become a hidden enemy, so make sure you lay down plenty of newspaper to protect your carpet.

Grab your kitchen knife and make a circular cut around the gourd stem. Though the texture is less than desirable, reach inside the pumpkin and remove all seeds and matter that are inside. Next, carve out the pumpkin’s eyes, nose, and a mouth. You can be creative, but most people simply use triangles for the eyes and nose, and give mouths a few square teeth. Finally, put the lit candle in the pumpkin before the evil spirits come, and now, thank heaven, you know how to carve a pumpkin!
